Moko Alor Dive Resort has been carefully and sustainably designed to maintain the surrounding area’s natural beauty without compromising on its guests’ comfort. This resort offers modern, well-appointed rooms, mouth-watering menus, a relaxing beachfront infinity pool, attentive staff, and much more.
Hotel Services/Facilities: Moko Alor Dive Resort opened in May 2024 with just three Beachfront Villas that can each accommodate four guests. The resort was carefully designed to co-exist with the area’s stunning landscape, so villas are set amongst lush trees and landscaped gardens. Two more phases to create six more villas are planned.
Resort facilities include a well-equipped dive centre that also offers freediving training, a designated camera room with camera set-up stations and photo editing software, a relaxing beachfront infinity pool, beach hammocks, a beachfront yoga sunset deck, and a beachfront hot-dip plunge pool. The perfect spot to relax and soak up the magical sunsets.

The restaurant is open-air, offering guests panoramic views of the majestic Mount Sirung Volcano and a gentle sea breeze at mealtimes. All different tastes are catered for with a combination of local dishes plus international favourites. The chef uses the freshest ingredients each day, bought from local farmers and fisherman, and taken from the resort’s own botanical garden.
The resort will happily cater for special dietary preferences and requirements if prior notice is given.
Alor is one of the world’s most ethnically diverse places, so for those looking to explore beyond the resort, Alor Island has much to offer. Moko Alor Dive Resort offers many island-hopping, cultural and land tours. Including visits to traditional villages, treks to see magical waterfalls, and hikes to witness active volcanos.
Transfers: Guests need to take a domestic flight to Mali airport on Alor Island. Flights are available from many other Indonesian airports including Jakarta, Manado and Bali, and usually transit through Kupang Airport on the island of Timor. Moko Alor Dive Resort is located 1 hour by coastal road from Mali airport.
Moko Alor Dive Resort currently offers three spacious Beachfront Villas, with plans to build six more villas by the end of 2024.
Beachfront Villas have 5G Wi-Fi access plus: Two Bedrooms with A/C, one with a king bed and one with two twin size beds, plus a hairdryer and safety deposit box. Living Room with A/C, sofa, Android Smart TV, soundbar Bluetooth speaker, fridge and hot water kettle with complimentary coffee, tea and mineral water. Villas have a semi open-air Bathroom with hot water shower, large private terrace, hammock and private hot-plunge pool.
Moko Alor Dive Resort’s house reef is stunning. Just steps away from the shore, divers and snorkellers can immerse themselves in crystal-clear waters and a world of vibrant coral gardens and diverse marine life, including countless fish, turtles, and dolphins.
Alor boasts some of the best underwater visibility in the world for divers, snorkellers and freedivers, where fish and coral colours spring to life, even below a depth of 30 metres. The on-site dive centre offers guided boat trips to explore nearby dive sites and discover hidden gems underwater.
Moko Alor Dive centre offers divers and snorkellers a range of high quality, well-maintained dive gear rentals from the likes of Scubapro and Tusa, including traditional, modern hybrid and winged BCDs. DIN adaptors are available on request. All dive equipment is serviced and tested regularly per industry standards, ensuring high safety standards.
There is a dedicated dive equipment storage room for guests, plus a dive equipment rack can be found in all guest villas.
The dive centre has a large, air-conditioned room that it uses as a camera centre, dive briefing room and classroom. The centre has eight seated camera stations, each with an air compressor, and Apple Mac photo editing equipment is also available to use.

The whole Alor region is volcanic and the muck dives of Kalabahi Bay are generally great for macro critter photographers. Whereas the Pantar Strait region, with its varied underwater topography, has bigger fish and is better suited to wide-angle photography.
An unusual and excellent bonus of diving and freediving here is the likelihood of spotting large mammals such as blue whales, pygmy blue whales, and sperm whales as well as pods of melon headed, and pilot whales, joined by spinner and bottlenose dolphins that can be seen almost every day from the boat.
Critters are abundant here and the corals are vibrant, with huge anemone fields, schooling fish, and a resident (endangered) dugong population. It’s also possible to encounter schooling hammerhead sharks, thresher sharks, and even Mola Mola here.
You can dive in Alor all year round, but the best conditions are from April to November, with October and November being the months when current is most prevalent. Outside of that time, the surface conditions can be unsettled and there is greater chance of rain and reduced visibility. However, although the chance of such disturbances is higher at this time, the weather is usually pretty settled and scuba divers can enjoy great conditions all year.
Water temperatures vary from a low of around 25°C (March to April and October to November) to 31/32°C from May to September, which is the southeast monsoon period. During this period the normally good visibility of around 25-30m can drop to 15m or less due to plankton blooms.
