Liveaboard diving at its finest
You’ll want to know…
In the midst of the South Pacific, the almost 1000 island chain that makes up the Solomon Islands is the perfect destination to explore via liveaboard. Here you will find some of the best – and incredibly, least visited – scuba diving and snorkelling sites worldwide. With an amazing diversity of marine life and an array of different habitats and ecosystems to suit many different diving styles.
With so few dive and snorkel operators in the Solomons, it’s rare to see another boat at dive sites, offering you a unique holiday experience. The diving is generally relaxed as the currents are usually mild, the water is warm and the visibility superb. You can expect to see pelagics, critters, caves, mangroves, walls and sea mounts, as well as some of the healthiest and most spectacular hard corals anywhere. Add to that the fascinating wrecks – ships, planes and underwater trucks – that are part of the remnants of this area’s pivotal role in World War II – and you have a veritable treasure trove just waiting to be explored.
The weather in the Solomon Islands is tropical throughout the year but there is usually more rain in January and February, so liveaboards don’t operate during these months and instead use this time for maintenance and well-deserved crew holidays. Water temperatures range between 28-30° C all year round. Visibility is generally excellent and does not appear to be affected by seasonal changes.
Our chosen liveaboard, Emperior Bilikiki, is consistently rated one of the best liveabords in the world. The beauty of sailing Emperor Bilikiki is no two trips are the same. There is no fixed itinerary as the crew heads for the best sites at the best times. Wherever the journey takes you, you’re guaranteed exceptional diving experiences on your holiday.
Flying to the Solomon Islands from the UK is simplest via Brisbane, Australia. Emperor Bilikiki trips start and finish in Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands, and home of the international airport, which is reached by a three-hour flight from Brisbane.
Why not take the chance to explore more of the incredible diving in the South Pacific and Oceania. We can tailor-make a holiday itinerary to combine the Solomon Islands with Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and many more amazing destinations in this region. Contact us for details.
